Pak Man Identifies 34 Taylor Swift Songs In A Minute, Breaks World Record https://ift.tt/85Qk3dJ A 20-year-old man from Pakistan has secured the title of the world's number one Talyor Swift fan by setting a new Guinness World Record (GWR). Bilal Ilyas Jhandir, who calls himself a "die-hard fan" of the pop sensation, bagged a new record for identifying the most Taylor Swift songs from their lyrics within a minute. He correctly named a total of 34 songs and broke the previous record of 27, set by UK's Dan Simpson in 2019. "I have been listening to Taylor Swift since my childhood. I am a die-hard fan of her," the 20-year-old said, as per GWR.  The challenge involved recognising songs from a random list of Swift's 50 best-selling tracks. Bilal Ilyas wore an eye mask in the submission video so he wouldn't be accused of sneaking a peek. He was tasked with identifying each song from its beginning lyrics, which were read aloud by a human without any accompanying music.  "Here's Bilal Ilyas Jhandir and his super knowledge of Taylor Swift lyrics which allowed him to set his record for most Swift songs identified by their lyrics in one minute," GWR wrote on X while sharing the clip. This involved "extensive listening sessions," which resulted in the songs becoming ingrained in his brain that he says he often recited lyrics aloud while sleeping. "I have listened to each and every song of hers. I can identify almost any song of hers from the lyrics," he said. Bilal Ilyas Jhandir decided to break this record as he believed it was the "best way on Earth" to demonstrate his "extraordinary love" for Taylor Swift. He said that the record attempt proved to be "an easy task," although he admitted that having the lyrics spoken by a man, instead of sung by Taylor Swift, added an extra layer of difficulty.  Also Read | "Peak Bengaluru": No Parking Sign Threatening Violators Of Ancient Curses Goes Viral The 20-year-old revealed that he has been listening to the pop singer since he was 13. "The thing I like the most about her is her way of writing out-of-this-world songs that always hit the bottom of my heart," he said. "The authenticity in her songwriting, the emotional depth in her lyrics, and her ability to connect with listeners on a personal level are all the things that I admire most about Taylor Swift," he added.  Meanwhile, according to GWR, this isn't Bilal's first world record. He holds two other titles, including the most animals identified from animal sounds in one minute (23) and the most Justin Bieber songs identified from lyrics in one minute (29). "This record is my favourite of all of them. Being called a 'Certified Swiftie' or 'Officially Amazing Swiftie' is such an incredible feeling," the 20-year-old said.  https://ift.tt/lQ3V4wU January 31, 2024 at 11:53AM NDTV News-Offbeat https://www.ndtv.com

UK Man Deep Cleans House, Sends Wife Rs 74,000 Bill As A Joke. See Post https://ift.tt/GYN4rdU A man in the UK handed his wife a 700 pound (approximately Rs 73,955) bill after he spent six hours deep cleaning the house. According to the Daily Telegraph, Marc Hatch, who runs his own cleaning business, Clean Me, was tasked with deep-cleaning an entire house, which he shares with his wife and three children. After completing the work, he sent the invoice to his wife Jasmine, as a prank.   However, the payment was ignored by his wife, who was left amused by the hilarious request.  Taking to Facebook, he shared his experience with a ''customer who refused to pay the bill''. ''Last week, we had a very unfortunate incident when a customer refused to pay! After cleaning a large corner sofa, three bedroom carpets, and a stone floor, the customer informed us she was delighted with the results! Great news, or so we thought,'' he wrote.  He also shared a screenshot of the invoice he had sent to his wife, 34, in a WhatsApp chat, which read, ''Hi Jasmine, please find your payment link following yesterday's clean. Please click the link and select your preferred payment method. Thank you for your business.'' She hilariously responded, ''Get a grip, we're married with three kids.'' See the post here: To her reply, Mr Hatch jokingly complained that it was ''hard work'' and he spent ''half a day'' doing it. Meanwhile, the couple's hilarious conversation has gone viral on social media. One user wrote, ''I didn't get it until I read that the contact was 'the wife' then I was like ohhhhh.'' Another commented, ''This is amazing.'' A third wrote, ''This is so funny.'' He later told Kennedy News and Media, ''We have an ongoing joke about things that we should get paid for. If I've got the kids, I'll say to her ‘I'm babysitting the kids, where's my babysitting money?' She's like ‘They're your kids you don't babysit your kids.'' "She was sitting next to me when I sent it. I pretended I was messaging someone else and she looked at me, started laughing straight away, and replied instantly. Sometimes she'll react like that, sometimes she'll laugh, sometimes she'll blow her top if I push too far but it's always light-hearted.'' https://ift.tt/kRKIj0u January 29, 2024 at 12:14PM NDTV News-Offbeat https://www.ndtv.com

We headed straight for the main camp when we came across our first large herd of elephants. The elephants, big and small, were all making use of a small pool of muddy water. The bigger elephants had already drunk, and now the youngsters were having their turn," she said. "That's when we spotted the cutest little baby amongst his much larger siblings. The little one was trying to also get its share of the water. However, being so tiny, it had to get right to the water's edge to have any chance of getting a sip. That unfortunately meant that it was standing on the very slippery part of the waterhole." "And just like that, in a blink of an eye, the baby elephant fell face first into the muddy water and disappeared! There was an immediate sense of panic in the entire herd; the elephants closest to the water rushed over and stretched their trunks desperately trying to pull the little one out. Nearly all the herd were trying, but the baby was just too small and weak to grab onto any of their outstretched trunks." https://ift.tt/NrPRKIW January 27, 2024 at 10:39PM NDTV News-Offbeat https://www.ndtv.com

Pic Showing Plane Passenger's Foot Poking Underneath Seat Sparks Debate https://ift.tt/QI8ioLn When travelling on a plane, passengers should follow some basic etiquette and do their best to not disturb or trouble anyone seated around them. However, recently a passenger was left disgusted after a flyer behind her poked their socked foot underneath their seat. A photo of the passenger's feet was shared on Reddit by user stefahnia (r/mildlyinfuriating). "Don't be this person," the Redditor captioned the photo, which was taken by a friend during a recent undisclosed flight.  The picture shows the passenger's space being violated by a socked foot belonging to the flyer behind them. It also shows the flyer's foot touching the photographer's sneakers. "Friend sent me this from her recent flight home last weekend," the user wrote in the caption.  Take a look at the post below:  Don't be this person byu/stefahnia inmildlyinfuriating The Redditor shared the post a few days back and since then it has amassed more than 9,000 upvotes. "I'd step on their toes really hard and go oopsie," wrote another.  "I would pretend I had no idea a foot was there, and put my feet up on the bar. A bruised toe or two should make him move his foot," commented a third. "I would 1000% stomp on that foot a time or two until they got the point. I am not afraid to let people know when they are invading my personal space," added another.  Also Read | Forget FOMO, Here's Why JOMO Is Trending On Social Media Again Some users also shared similar experiences. "If the person behind me tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I was okay about them encroaching my space because they're large, no problem at all. Encroach away," wrote one user. Viral Pic Shows Lord Ram's Image On Burj Khalifa. A Fact-Check https://ift.tt/rYZn5Mk Thousands of people in Ayodhya danced in the streets, waving flags and chanting religious slogans during the consecration ceremony of the grand Ram temple on Monday. Thousands others watched the ceremony live online. But along with the frenzy, several fake and digitally altered images started circulating on social media that attracted a lot of attention. One of them shows the projection of Lord Ram on Dubai's Burj Khalifa building. The photo went massively viral, amassing more than two million views and sparking a huge debate online. The image shows a shining Burj Khalifa with a photo of Lord Ram dressed as a sage (depicting his years in exile) with 'Jai Shri Ram' written in top. People who shared the photo claimed this was real and users immediately started posting comments. However, some of them asked if the photo is real. "Jai Shree Ram. Still I want to know whether it is edited or real?" commented one user. "Craze is unreal," said another. "Well it is not photoshopped. It's digitally altered. Jai Shree Ram. Paint the whole world," said a third user. However, a reverse image search on Google shows Burj Khalifa in same light but without any projection of Lord Ram on it. Whenever an occasion is celebrated by the world's tallest building, the images are shared on its Facebook and Instagram accounts. But no such post has been shared on its social media handles. A similar incident took place in April 2023 too, but that too turned out to be fake. Meanwhile, the doors of the Ram temple in Ayodhya opened to the general public on Tuesday, a day after the consecration of the new Ram Lalla idol. A large number of devotees, both locals and visitors from other states, gathered outside the main gates since late on Monday night, waiting to enter the premises. They had to wait for hours in the biting cold before the doors of the grand temple opened. The temple complex, built in the traditional Nagara style, is 380 feet long from the east to the west, 250 feet wide and will eventually rise to 161 feet at the 'shikhar'. It is supported by 392 pillars and has 44 doors. https://ift.tt/jNTuY8D January 23, 2024 at 11:49AM NDTV News-Offbeat https://www.ndtv.com

The 'Hera Pheri '-themed meme featuring actors Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal, warns citizens not to click on any suspicious link and avoid making payments to unauthorized websites. ''Beware of recent online frauds: Fraudsters may convince you for Fake passes of VIP Entry regarding "Pran Pratishtha Event" of Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya . Don't click any suspicious link and avoid transaction in this regard to unknown number or website,'' the tweet read by Cyber Dost reads. Several government handles are also tagged in the tweet.

Notably, only individuals with valid invites or on government duty would be allowed to enter the temple today.

The 'pran pratishtha' at the Ram Mandir will begin at 12:20 pm and is likely to end by 1 pm.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi will then address a gathering of more than 7,000 people, including seers and prominent personalities, at the venue.

The temple trust has invited more than 7,000 people to attend the grand inauguration. This includes cricket stars Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and MS Dhoni; Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan, Rajnikanth, Anushka Sharma, Alia Bhatt, and Ranbir Kapoor.

To mark the occasion of the consecration ceremony, government offices, boards, and corporations in several states have declared a half day or a holiday.

Ayodhya's Ram temple will be opened for 'darshan' to the general public from January 23. The darshan timings for devotees are divided into two slots –from 7 AM to 11.30 AM and 2 PM to 7 PM. People need a pass issued by the trust to attend the aarti.

AI Chatbot Goes Rogue, Swears At Customer And Slams Company In UK https://ift.tt/esv3wjq Dynamic Parcel Distribution (DPD) deactivated its AI online chatbot after a customer, 30-year-old Ashley Beauchamp, discovered the bot using inappropriate language and even creating a critical poem about the parcel delivery company. Ashley became frustrated while attempting to locate a missing parcel and felt that the chatbot was not providing helpful information. Subsequently, he posed some questions to the chatbot, and the system's responses were entirely unexpected and not in line with the intended interaction. As a result of these unforeseen issues, DPD decided to disable the chatbot to address the situation. According to The Guardian, Ashley asked the chatbot to tell him a joke, but he soon progressed to getting the chatbot to write a poem criticising the company. With a few more prompts, the chatbot also swore. Mr Beauchamp shared the conversation on X, with the chatbot replying to one message: "F**k yeah! Sivamani's 'Humma-Humma' Performance At Kochi Airport Amid Baggage Delay https://ift.tt/fpJBWGm Passengers at Kochi Airport were in for an unexpected musical treat when renowned Indian percussionist Sivamani broke into an impromptu performance. The incident happened on Wednesday when passengers were waiting for their luggage at the conveyor belt. 40 minutes had passed, but there was no sign of their luggage. That's when the 64-year-old musician, who was also a passenger on the flight, decided to entertain passengers with his musical art.  The artist used his drumsticks on the railings of the conveyor belt and played the beats of AR Rahman's 'Humma Humma'. The performance was captured by a fellow passenger and shared on the micro-blogging platform where it went viral.  ''It's been 40 minutes since we landed at Kochi airport and we are still waiting for our bags to come out. Instead of getting agitated, we are getting entertained by a fellow passenger,'' X user Sheetal Mehta wrote along with the video. More power to him as we need more such public places,'' another wrote. A third commented, ''I don't think anyone would mind delays if Sivamani performs impromptu.'' A fourth said, ''Wow! Seldom does a baggage delay become a moment to cherish. Sivamani rocks!!''  A fifth added, ''That's DrumsSivaMani. Will never complain even if it's delayed for 12 hours.'' A sixth commented, ''You wait for the luggage and there's a random guy playing drums without drums and he happens to be The Drums Sivamani!!! Oh!!! What a lucky day it should be.'' Notably, Sivamani, commonly known by his stage name Drums Sivamani, is an Indian percussionist. He plays many instruments including drums, octoban, darbuka, udukai, ghatam and kanjira. In 2019, he was conferred the title of Padma Shri.  https://ift.tt/YyFhHMg January 18, 2024 at 10:48AM NDTV News-Offbeat https://www.ndtv.com

Google Doodle Celebrates Hamida Banu, India's First Woman Wrestler https://ift.tt/KOXLQAN Today, Google is celebrating India's first professional woman wrestler Hamida Banu. The doodle, illustrated by Bangalore-based artist Divya Negi, depicts Ms Banu surrounded by local flora and fauna. It also serves as a reminder of a female's entry into a sport that was dominated by males in the 1940s and 50s. "This Doodle celebrates Indian wrestler Hamida Banu, who is widely considered to be India's first professional woman wrestler," the Google Doodle description read.  Why is Google honouring Hamida Banu today?  Hamida Banu, widely considered to be India's first woman wrestler, was born in the early 1900s near Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. In her career spanning the 1940s and 1950s, Ms Banu won more than 300 competitions.  May 4 was chosen as the date to honour Ms Banu because it was on this day in 1954 that she challenged and defeated famed wrestler Baba Pahalwan. He retired from professional wrestling after that. "On this day in 1954, the wrestling match that earned Banu international recognition and acclaim was reported - she had defeated famed wrestler Baba Pahalwan, in just 1 minute and 34 seconds, after which the latter retired from professional wrestling," Google wrote in the description of the doodle.  About Hamida Banu  Hamida Banu was born into a family of wrestlers in the early 1900s near Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. She entered into wrestling at a time when women's participation in athletics was strongly discouraged by prevalent social norms. However, Ms Banu was "passionate and she competed with men anyway, issuing an open challenge to all male wrestlers and wagering her hand in marriage to the first to defeat her," as per Google.  Ms Banu's career even extended into the international arena, where she won against a Russian woman wrestler Vera Chistilin in less than two minutes. "Her name appeared in newspaper headlines for years, and she became known as the "Amazon of Aligarh." The bouts she won, her diet, and her training regimen were widely covered," Google wrote.  Also Read | What Is 'Star Wars' Day? Why Is It Celebrated On May 4? Here's Everything To Know "Hamida Banu was a trailblazer of her time, and her fearlessness is remembered throughout India and across the world. Outside of her sporting accomplishments, she will always be celebrated for staying true to herself," it added.  Speaking about today's doodle, artist Divya Negi said she was inspired by Hamida Banu's fight against conservative norms of the day. "I delved into Hamida's world during my doodle research. It was inspiring to learn that she fought fiercely against the conservative norms of her time. Going against groupthink is one of the hardest things one can do, and being a woman adds another level of complexity to it. Despite that, Hamida powered through and won," she said. https://ift.tt/m51kach May 04, 2024 at 09:34AM NDTV News-Offbeat https://www.ndtv.com
