Mumbai Traffic Police Responds To Amol Kolhe's Critique On E-Challans https://ift.tt/xITAVFD Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Amol Kolhe has criticised the Mumbai Traffic Police for their approach to traffic fine collection. Kolhe's criticism came after he was stopped by a female traffic police officer and asked to pay a fine online for his vehicle, which has 15 pending e-challans worth Rs 16,900. In a tweet, Kolhe said that he was "shocked" by the incident and that the traffic police were "harassing" him. He also questioned the need for such a large number of e-challans. “I experienced something very shocking. A lady police officer from the Mumbai Traffic Police stopped my car and asked to pay the fine online. While checking her mobile, I saw a message in the form of an order that said ₹25,000 to be collected from at least 20 vehicles," Mr Kolhe wrote. He then criticised the government and the traffic police for this behavior. "There are 652 traffic junctions in Mumbai. 25,000x652 = Rs 1,63,00,000 per day, which is a whopping Rs 1.63 crore in Mumbai alone. What about other cities? If the concerned ministers or officials disclose, the public will know whether the traffic department is being used for recovery rather than traffic regulation," he added. आजचा धक्कादायक अनुभव- मुंबईत सिग्नल्स वाहतूक शाखेच्या महिला पोलिसांनी गाडी अडवून ड्रायव्हरला ऑनलाईन दंड भरण्यास सांगितले. मी स्वतः काय प्रकार आहे याची माहिती घेताना त्या भगिनीने थेट मोबाईलवरील मेसेज दाखवला- प्रत्येक चौकात २५००० रूपयांची वसुली व २० वाहनांवर कारवाई झाली पाहिजे!… pic.twitter.com/TJ3oq2oSsO — Dr.Amol Kolhe (@kolhe_amol) December 2, 2023 The Mumbai Traffic Police responded to Mr Kolhe's tweet by saying that "more than 1.31 crore e-challans in the city of Mumbai for violating the Motor Vehicle Act have a fine amount of over Rs 685 crore pending since January 1, 2019. A penalty collection drive is undertaken on weekends to collect this penal amount for the government and to enforce traffic discipline among motorists who violate traffic rules." अशा प्रकारचा संभ्रम निर्माण करणारा संदेश समाजमाध्यमावर प्रसारीत करण्यापुर्वी आपण जबाबदार लोकप्रतिनिधी असल्याने पर्यवेक्षिय अधिकाऱ्यांकडुन वस्तुस्थितीची माहिती घेऊन आपण संदेश प्रसारित करणे अपेक्षित होते. — Mumbai Traffic Police (@MTPHereToHelp) December 2, 2023 "Being a responsible public representative, we are expected to get factual information from the supervisory authorities before broadcasting such a confusing message on social media," Mumbai traffic police added. https://ift.tt/Z6YGyUj December 03, 2023 at 06:21PM NDTV News-Offbeat https://www.ndtv.com

American TikToker Dylan Mulvaney Makes Forbes '30 Under 30' List https://ift.tt/mkTBpDv Forbes magazine has released its annual "30 Under 30" list, which highlights 30 notable people under the age of 30 who are making a significant impact in various fields, including art and style, media, music, and sports. One of the individuals featured on this year's list is TikTok influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Mulvaney, an actress and LGBTQ+ activist, is estimated to have earned $2 million last year. Mulvaney is best known for her "Days of Girlhood" TikTok series, which documented her gender transition. The series went viral and has been viewed over 1 billion times. Mulvaney has also used her platform to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and raise awareness of transgender issues. In addition to her work on TikTok, Ms Mulvaney is also an actress. She has appeared in several television shows and films, including "The Politician" and "Disclosure." She is also a co-founder of the production company, DMH Studios. According to Forbes, Ms Mulvaney found herself at the center of an unexpected political crossfire after Bud Light paid her to post a video featuring a custom beer with her face on the can, sparking a widespread boycott of the brand. Nevertheless, she's landed partnerships with companies like Nike and MAC, and she has urged brands to go beyond "just inclusive marketing" to stand up for what's right. Last year, she sat down with President Joe Biden to discuss trans rights, and this year, she won Breakout Creator of the Year at the Streamy Awards, the Oscars of the Internet. "I always want my followers to know it's because of them that I'm in those rooms," says Mulvaney, who is now represented by CAA. https://ift.tt/MeHOgjJ December 01, 2023 at 10:51PM NDTV News-Offbeat https://www.ndtv.com

Indian Woman Achieves Guinness World Record For Longest Hair https://ift.tt/hLY2sjH Smita Srivastava, a 46-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh, India, recently secured a Guinness World Records title for having the longest hair on a living person. She has abstained from cutting her hair since the age of 14, and her remarkable tresses were officially measured at an impressive length of 7 feet and 9 inches. Inspired by the iconic long hairstyles donned by Hindi actresses in the 1980s, Ms Srivastava's dedication to maintaining her lengthy locks has now earned her a place in the record books. "In Indian culture, goddesses traditionally had very long hair. In our society, it is considered inauspicious to cut hair, so that is why women used to grow hair," Smita explained. "Long hair enhances the beauty of women." According to Guinness World Records, Smita usually washes her hair twice per week. The entire process, including washing, drying, detangling, and styling, takes up to three hours each time. She spends 30-45 minutes washing it, then dries it with a towel before using her hands to detangle it, which typically takes two hours to do. "I lay a sheet down on which I detangle my hair while standing on my bed," Smita said. Once her hair is detangled and fully dried, she combs it before braiding it or tying it into a bun. Smita reveals that whenever she ventures outdoors with her hair flowing freely, onlookers are left "amazed." She notes that people find it difficult to fathom the existence of such lengthy hair, expressing disbelief at the extraordinary length she has maintained over the years. "People come to me, touch my hair, take pictures, and take selfies with me, and they often inquire about the products I use, as my hair is beautiful. "I tell them what I apply to my hair, and they express their intention to do the same to achieve healthy hair." Smita is overjoyed to now hold this Guinness World Records title, which she says she used to dream about. "God answered my prayers," she told GWR. https://ift.tt/2TpuEsN November 29, 2023 at 11:45PM NDTV News-Offbeat https://www.ndtv.com
