Investor Says ₹25 LPA Salary Is ''Nothing In Today's Age'', Sparks Debate https://ift.tt/Twn2G6s Sourav Dutta, an investor, recently sparked a controversy by claiming that a ₹25 lakhs per annum salary is "nothing" in today's age. Notably, he made this statement while discussing current tech salaries and asking if they were distorting the market.  ''25 LPA salary in today's age is nothing. Even a software engineer gets more than this. Are tech salaries distorting the market?'', Mr Dutta wrote on X. His tweet comes at a time when there is a widespread discussion on the internet about stagnant salaries in the IT industry.  See the tweet here: 25 LPA salary in today's age is nothing. Even a 3-5 year experience software engineer gets more than this. Are tech salaries distorting the market? — Sourav Dutta (@Dutta_Souravd) August 2, 2024 The post shared just two days ago, has ignited a firestorm of discussion online, with several reactions and comments. His claim was met with disagreement from many, including those who have been in the industry for 10 years and still earn around ₹25 LPA. One user wrote, ''Who are 3-5 year techies ? I know many IT guys/girls , they earn 20-25 LPA after 10 years of experience. May be few startups offer such a high package to new guys but not big tech.'' Mr. Dutta responded by saying that salaries have increased and ₹30 LPA is now common for 5 years of experience.  Another commented, ''It's not common; only some guys have this offer, those are switching frequently.'' A third added, ''Since COVID, salaries have inflated, and you see the mass layoffs and restructuring because cos have realized the situation post-COVID, and then people are falling into the reality.'' ''It is very uncommon. What stats do you have to support your claim?'', a fourth asked.  This is not the first time Mr Dutta has faced backlash for his comments. Earlier, he shared another controversial opinion on net worth and wealth classification. In June, he shared a comprehensive table of wealth categories based on net worth. For him, people with ₹10 lakh of liquid net worth are ''poor'', while individuals with a liquid net worth of ₹50 lakh are ''lower middle class.'' People with Rs 1 crore of liquid net worth would fall in the ''rich'' category, according to him, while a high individual (HNI) would have liquid assets worth ₹10 crore or more.  https://ift.tt/4f2yS1q August 04, 2024 at 07:49AM NDTV News-Offbeat https://www.ndtv.com

Gen-Zs Call These Shoes Old. Here's What Is Considered Trendy Now https://ift.tt/QYG4K2c A viral video has exposed a surprising trend among young women: donning high heels to go out is now so outdated, according to Gen Z. The New York Post reported that the video, filmed on a Friday night at a local bar, showed a venue filled with young women dressed in jeans, a nice top, and comfy sneakers. While jeans and a nice top have long been staples in millennial wardrobes, the choice of flat footwear marks a radical departure from the fashion norms of yesteryear. High heels, once a requisite for a night out, have come to symbolise the old. To any woman who grew up before social media and smartphones, ending the night holding their heels was a kind of rite of passage. Gen Z has eschewed tradition for comfort and practical footwear best suited to dancing and crawling. The global pandemic has swayed preferences in footwear; the most recent data received shows increased sales in flats and low-heels while interest in high-heels drops. This shift has made it easier for the younger generation to distinguish themselves from the older set. According to The New York Post, comments on a recent viral video shared by a TikTok users reflect mixed opinions. Some users yearn for the past, where one used to get dressed up, while others embrace the comfort of the new trend. One Reddit user put it best: "Heels scream try-hard-old-person." Even with the change, there was still a yearning for that ritual of dressing up; as one commenter so astutely said, "The best part of going out was getting all dolled up," and the online responses definitely concurred. Another remarked about past nightclub dress codes: "I remember when we couldn't enter a nightclub if we had jeans on." https://ift.tt/7p84slI August 03, 2024 at 09:49AM NDTV News-Offbeat https://www.ndtv.com

"It's Ridiculous": Woman Paid Rs 11 Lakh Fine Over 5-Minute Parking Rule https://ift.tt/uFCGpeI Hannah Robinson of Darlington, County Durham, who regularly parks at the Feethams Leisure Centre, is allegedly slapped with penalties amounting to 11,000 pounds (Rs 11,80465) for a "ridiculous" five-minute rule, even after she had paid for a permit. The rule was introduced by UK's Excel Parking Services to stop people from loitering and to prevent drivers from using the car park as a pickup area for the nearby cinema without paying. Entry to the car park is monitored by ANPR cameras, which capture a record of the time of entry and exit. Also Read | US Woman Makes ₹ 66 Lakh From Dumpster Diving Find Since 2021, Ms Robinson has accumulated 67 fines, at around 170 pounds (Rs 18,000) each, which she says she always pays to park, but this new rule states customers must purchase their ticket within five minutes of arrival. There is no internet connectivity inside the car park, so she can't often make this transaction. Ms Robinson feels that this ruling is hitting hard on drivers who park legitimately, as the fines have run into a lot of money despite her trying to adhere to the parking requirements. She told BBC News: "It's ridiculous. I paid for it....I've been trying for the full five minutes. They just don't care. I've done absolutely everything I can to get in touch with them." "All this just to park my car to come to work." Other drivers the BBC spoke to who had been caught out said the five minute limit could be difficult for those with mobility issues or children. https://ift.tt/3lUMv2n August 03, 2024 at 07:56AM NDTV News-Offbeat https://www.ndtv.com

Watch: Boy Doesn't Recognise Rihanna, Asks Her To Take Pic With Footballer https://ift.tt/9t47msQ This week in New York, international pop star Rihanna met English professional footballer Jack Grealish, a star for Manchester City, and the moment was made for the viral pictures. But among the flashing cameras, there was a hilarious mix-up involving one young football fan who was obviously more interested in football than pop music. The little football fan, obviously in awe of attacking midfielder Grealish, came up to Rihanna with a unique request. He requested a picture of himself with his football idol from the world-famous musician, who is renowned for her chart-topping tunes and billion-dollar wealth. Despite being one of the best-selling female singers of all time, Rihanna was not recognised by the boy, who was an avid football fan. Demonstrating her trademark humility and generosity, Rihanna agreed to take the picture. A video clip of the moment was recorded and posted on social media. It goes without saying that the video instantly went viral and sparked a plethora of amusing responses from viewers. Rihanna, who was in New York to watch Manchester City's preseason friendly against AC Milan, was sporting a casual look with a sports cap and an oversized T-shirt from her Fenty line. Fans adored Rihanna's charming behaviour and complimented her for maintaining a grounded energy throughout. "I think that's cute. I'm sure she appreciated it too. She seemed like she liked directing them to pose to get the shot. I think this kid, if he actually reached out in the future, could get a picture with her. He wasn't being mean; he was just not exposed yet. I must feel good," commented a user. "Rihanna, be on point; she loves this with kids. Go Rhianna!! Everybody looks happy," commented another user. "Mad respect to Rihanna for this. She probably enjoyed being treated normally for once. Respect to her," commented a third user. https://ift.tt/e9u3tig August 02, 2024 at 08:21AM NDTV News-Offbeat https://www.ndtv.com
