Vietnamese Father Discovers Daughter Was Swapped At Birth Through DNA Test https://ift.tt/hkc64Hz A Vietnamese father uncovered a long-buried truth after noticing his daughter's appearance bore no resemblance to either parent, according to the South China Morning Post. A DNA test revealed he was not her biological father. This revelation led to a journey uncovering a hospital mix-up, with the truth emerging when the daughter met another girl born on the same date at a new school. However, as Lan grew into a teenager and became increasingly beautiful, he noticed she bore no resemblance to either him or his wife. Suspicion prompted him to conduct a DNA test, which confirmed that Lan was not his biological daughter. The revelation led him to grow distant and cold towards his wife and daughter, and he often came home drunk. One night, after getting drunk, he confronted his wife with the DNA results and accused her of infidelity, reported SCMP. However, Hong denied the allegations and eventually moved to the northern capital city of Hanoi with her daughter. The move forced Lan to transfer schools, a move that unexpectedly revealed the truth. At a birthday party, a mother noticed Lan's striking resemblance to herself, suspecting a hospital mix-up. DNA tests confirmed Lan and her friend were switched at birth. The families now regularly spend time together and plan to reveal the truth to the girls, with legal action remaining undecided. https://ift.tt/h7uwneo November 09, 2024 at 12:03AM NDTV News-Offbeat https://www.ndtv.com

Pak Woman Rejected From Interview After AI Flags Original Work. See Post https://ift.tt/jsISeJu In recent years, the AI trend has taken over social media platforms. From passing medical and law exams to delivering speeches, AI has evolved so much that it even converses with users and offers solutions to their problems. However, the advancement in technology has also brought a threat to many existing jobs and their utility in the future. Questions about its reliability also remain. Highlighting this issue, a Pakistani woman, who got rejected from a job interview simply because her "original" work was flagged by an "unreliable AI detector", questioned if we're losing talent to "flawed technology". Taking to LinkedIn, content writer Damisha Irfan wrote, "Got Rejected Because of "So-Called" AI Detectors. Yes, you read that right! I was rejected from a job interview simply because my work was flagged by an unreliable AI detector." "After putting my genuine effort into creating original content, it was dismissed due to these 'scammer' AI tools that can't accurately distinguish between real human creativity and AI-generated text," she said. In her post, Ms Irfan raised a "serious question". "Are we losing talent to flawed technology?" she asked. "It's time to reconsider how we use these tools in decision-making. Let's not let innovation turn into a roadblock for authentic creators," she concluded. Ms Irfan shared the post a few days back. Since then it has garnered several reactions and comments. Her post sparked a discussion online about the use of AI in creative fields. "I'm happy more people are speaking up about these defective AI detector tools. So long have I seemed like a lonely voice that does not know what he's doing. These tools want us to write horrible content. If it's good and reads well, they think it can only be done by AI. What's that? I think people who demand the use of these AI tools know that they are very imperfect. Why use them professionally already?" wrote one user. "So true. I recently created some content with a little help from AI. The few lines that were AI generated showed as Human Written and my content was flagged as AI written!" shared another. Also Read | Billionaire CEO Who Works 16 Hours A Day Shares How He Balances Office And Parenting "This is the unfortunate challenge we're all facing as creators. Almost 99% of these AI detectors will flag even original content as AI-generated. The most disappointing part is that those in charge rarely take a moment to read through the content themselves to determine if it truly sounds AI-generated or human-written. This raises the pressing question: How can content writers get justice against wrongful accusations by unreliable AI detectors?" expressed a third user. "It is really sad that we are depending on tools too much for checking the quality of a content. Grammarly and Readability tools have replaced proofreading. We are seriously overlooking talent," added a fourth user. https://ift.tt/zNau2y6 November 08, 2024 at 10:02AM NDTV News-Offbeat https://www.ndtv.com

The 49-year-old army veteran was attempting a speed fly - an air sport similar to paragliding - when he lost his balance just as the parachute was deployed, the footage of which has gone viral on social media. Lima immediately fell nearly 820 feet and landed on some rocks as a woman in the background could be heard saying in the video: "Guys, I am worried." According to witnesses, as cited by the NY Post, Lima appeared to have tripped on a hole which contributed to the fatal fall. The police are currently investigating the case and believe that Lima's equipment may have been faulty at the time of the accident. Meanwhile, the Clube Sao Conrado de Voo Livre (CSCLV), which controls access to the site where paragliding flights and similar activities take place in Pedra Bonita, said that Lima accessed a trail -- not the ramp, and jumped from an inappropriate location. "The pilot did not use the ramp to take off. The spot he chose for takeoff is bad and even prohibited. The CSCLV is not responsible for the incident. With that clarification, may the pilot rest in peace," CSCLV said in a statement.
