Days after British pop band Coldplay announced another concert in the western Indian city of Ahmedabad as part of its much-awaited "Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025", a social media user has revealed that one of the hotels near the Narendra Modi Stadium had increased booking prices despite having made the reservation previously. The netizen took to X (formerly Twitter) and posted the correspondence with the hotel as the booking price was raised exponentially from Rs 5,521 to Rs 16,000.

The management claimed that owing to the Coldplay concert in Ahmedabad on Jan 25 and 26, 2025 -- hotel rooms were in high demand, prompting the price increase.

"Unfortunately, due to this, we are unable to honour your reservation at current rates, and need to make an adjustment to reflect the market conditions," read the statement by the hotel.

"What does this mean for your booking? Option 1(Keep Your Booking): If you'd like to confirm your reservation, we kindly request you to pay the adjusted rate of INR 16000 (an increase of INR 10479). To thank you for your understanding, we'd love to treat you to a complimentary meal during your stay," it added.

Netizens fume

The post quickly went viral, inviting the wrath of the netizens who called out the hotel for not honouring the booking and using anti-consumer means to profit off the situation.

"What's the point of reservation then?" said one user, while another added: "This is not done. Perfect case to pursue under consumer protection law. Happy to get you legal help at no cost."

A third commented: "That one millisecond tick to" I agree to the terms and conditions" is going to start haunting us now. Treebo has given a 'cold shoulder' to patrons."

Prices increase

Immediately after the concert dates were announced, hotels in the city increased their prices with many claiming that rooms were being booked for as high as Rs 90,000 for just one night.

Derek Pfaff, 30, attempted to kill himself but miraculously survived and now has a second crack at life, following a life-changing surgery. Mr Pfaff underwent the complex procedure that lasted more than 50 hours and involved at least 80 healthcare professionals at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester earlier this year, according to an announcement published. In the last 20 years, just a little more than 50 face transplants have been performed worldwide, which makes Mr Pfaff's operation a rare success. Prior to the operation at Mayo Clinic, Mr Pfaff had undergone 58 reconstructive facial surgeries in 10 years but remained unable to eat solid food or speak casually with friends and family. Since he had no nose, Mr Pfaff could not wear glasses either. "After my last surgery, the doctor told my parents that there's nothing more he could do except refer us to a place to get a face transplant. This surgery has transformed my life. I feel so much more confident," Mr Pfaff said in a video shared by the clinic. "I'm also going to keep sharing my story with others to help as many people as I can. I lived for a reason. I want to help others. I am so grateful to my donor, his family and my care team at Mayo Clinic for giving me this second chance." Taking to Instagram, the employee, who goes by the name Simi on social media, shared a video of the wholesome conversation she had with her manager regarding leaving her job. 

"This was honestly a very difficult post for me cause i dont like to share my emotional side on social media, but at the same time, i really wanted to share how amazing this woman has been and what a great manager looks like," the employee wrote in the caption of the post. 

"I have never met anyone like her and i really learnt how impt it is to have a good manager :') if you know me personally, you know i've always mentioned how great my manager is, and this clip is the perfect way to show what a beautiful heart she has," she added.

In the clip, Simi informs her manager that she is leaving her job, to which the boss immediately reacts by saying "Congratulations". The manager then goes on to express excitement for her. "I'm really happy for you I'm sad for me, but that's fine," she says. "It's really like such a wonderful experience for me to have to work with you," the boss continues.

The video, shared on Instagram a few days back, has taken the internet by storm. It has accumulated more than 283,000 likes and 4.4 million views. In the comments section, while some users called the video heartwarming, others praised the manager for her wholesome reaction. 

"She's such a nice boss, the way she explained all the emotional and reassured it's natural to feel them, chef's kiss," wrote one user. "'it's not about me . It's about you and your career' SIS SHE DESERVES AN AWARD FOR BEING SUCH A BOSS," commented another.
